  1. PalmQuotes - Library of Quotes for the Palm Platform

  3. PalmQuotes is a very simple, intuitive program to use.
  4.  
  5. Tap on the icon to start the program.
  6.  
  7. This will bring up the initial search screen. You can choose to search by author, category, or keyword.

Author Search...Scroll down the list to find the name of the author whose quotes you want to view, or start to enter the first few letters of the authors name in the entry field. When you see the author you want, tap on the name. The first few words of any quotes credited to this author will be listed on the screen in a list box. Tap on any quote and the full quote and author will be displayed on the screen.

Category Search...Choose a category in the list box to the left, tap the "OK" button, and all the beginning of all the quotes in this category will be displayed. Tap on any quote and the full quote and author will be displayed on the screen. (Some quotes will correspond to more than one category.)

Optionally, you can use an "And" search or an "Or" search. If you want to find a quote that corresponds to two categories (i.e. "Business" and "Success") select the first category in the top list box, choose "And" from the drop-down list in the center of the two list boxes, and select the second category in the bottom list box. Tap the "OK" button, and the beginning of all the corresponding quotes will be displayed in the list box. Tap on any quote and the full quote and author will be displayed on the screen. 
  14. For an "Or" search, follow the same instructions, but selecting "Or" in the drop-down box. The beginning of all quotes from either of these categories will be displayed in a list box on the screen. Tap on any quote and the full quote and author will be displayed on the screen.

Keyword Search...Write or type in the word that you want to search for (be sure to use the "Case Sensitive" and "Whole Word" buttons when appropriate). Tap the "OK" button and the beginning of all corresponding quotes will be displayed in a list box. Tap on any quote and the full quote and author will be displayed on the screen.

Random Quote Button...Press the "Random Quote" button on the main screen to return a random quote from the database. A "Random" button will also appear on the screen after you have done a search by keyword, author, or category, and selected a quote. Pressing the button will return a quote from within the criteria you selected (for example, if you do a category search for business, it gives you a random business quote).

  23. 8/4/98 - Version 1.0 (Trial version) released.

  25. 8/25/98 - Version 1.1 (Updated Trial Version) released. Version 1.1 fixes the bug where the "Whole Word" search would only return a quote with a space after the word (not punctuation), and added the random quote feature.

  27. 11/24/98 - First commercial version released, PalmQuotes Volume 1. Some screens were redesigned. First 500 quote version. Program was optimized for speed when displaying a large number of quotes in the search results screen.
